Governors
The Governing Body of Colnbrook School offers you a warm welcome. We are members of the school community who have a variety of backgrounds, skills and interests which we bring to the governing body. But most important of all is our passion in believing that all of the pupils and staff at Colnbrook deserve the very best educational provision and experiences that we can provide.
The school Board of Governors offer support and challenge to the school and ensures that the Headteacher is performing her responsibilities for the educational performance of the school. We also ensure sound, proper and effective use of the school’s financial resources and ensure the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school are clearly defined.
Governors are encouraged to attend training sessions held by the local authority; this enables us to build up our skills to ensure we have the necessary knowledge to fulfil our roles on the governing body. We visit the school throughout the year for a range of events as well as time in class. We have two committees- the Curriculum and Staffing Committee which deals with the curriculum, strategies and teaching and learning and the Finance and General Purposes Committee which deals with the finances, building and health and safety amongst other things. We meet as a full governing body four times a year.
We value close relationships with our parents and staff alike and work to ensure that the school not only functions at an outstanding level, but is a happy and caring community.
Our Chair of Governors is Hilary McDermott who can be contacted via the School Office on 020 8428 1281 or via email using admin@colnbrook.herts.sch.uk
